VD 2 Lava Post 2

After our lava lesson was was great fun we were set the task of designing our own rock monster.

I wanted to start the design process with looking in to interesting rock formations in the world and see if i could grab anything from them, this proved extremely
useful as i go more ideas of this than actually looking at other rock monster which other artist have made.

That was the next step to see what people have done in their versions of rock/lava monsters.

I had gone through my research and made my own drawings of different rock drawings and i had decided i wanted to make some huge, hulking behemoth which towered over everything.
However was a gentle being and cared for all things to do with the earth.

I ended coming up with this monster made up of huge boulders which were held together by forces we cant understand, he rested from the beginning of earth creations and has awoken to stroll this lands once more.

After i had scanned the drawings i went into Photo shop and replicated the techniques i used on the Lava monster on to him.

In an overview of the final image i think it went well, definitely not as good as it could have been but i am still pleased with the end result the shading is good but i think i need to make him a bit darker in ton and have more of glow to the lave streaks to give them more depth and feel more settled into hi body.
