VD 2 Alley Texture 1

In this session we were learn how to texture uv's for a 3D model in Maya in Photoshop.

The basic principle of the technique
is to take a screen print of the uv map in Maya then draw over it in a Photoshop on a different layer above the images of the uv's. Then go on to save it as a Targa file and create a material in Maya and place it on, then just place the material where you want it to be shown.

We were presented with this alley way scene with all the uvs laid out for us and Photoshop scenes. We had to make all the textures for the scene and lay them out properly.

In the task we were also given an assortment of the images and textures we could add on to our uvs to makes them look better.

These were really helpful to make the textures look good as we could add tears and marks to make them look more warn down and weathered.

This is an example of the templates we were given to draw over to create the textures this is a the barrel uvs.

Later on i have shown the finished barrel texture and finished scene in Maya with all the materials added.

Overall i think this piece went pretty well i like the way i made all the textures and they look realistic which is what the breif told us to aim for. This was really usful for our later projects to come in both Maya and Photoshop so i am sure i will be using this technique again at some point.
